We made it!

.....to the first day of summer! I've been counting down til June 21 for a while now :)

I celebrated the arrival with a nice 5-mile run....in 95 degree heat. Reeeeal smart, Lauren. Real smart.

But did my best to run in shady areas...



And took a break when I felt like I might possibly be melting...

To refuel and follow in line with the first day of summer, I made a Tropical Protein Smoothie using these guys..

(Clearly overestimated the glass size)

The players
vanilla whey protein
1 c coconut milk (cultured)
coconut extract
frozen pineapple
1/2 frozen banana
hand full fresh spinach
stevia
ice/water to desired consistency

And a new find: Organic coconut extract!


I've been searching for an all-natural version of the artificial crappy one sold in most grocery stores. Alas, Amazon came to the rescue! I have a feeling I'll be using this stuff a lot this summer!

  2. OMGOSH I have to find that coconut extract... I also need to replace my crappy vanilla one.That smoothie sounds too, too good. Did they whey upset your stomach at all??

    As for my favourite summer foods/drinks... I would have to say lots of BBQ'd things and lots of smoothies! Woohoo!

  3. @peanutbutterbandit No the whey was fine! I usually go for rice protein but it's what we had :)
