Here are some recent foods I've been enjoying over the last few days:
Veggie burger pizzas
Morningstar pizza burgers (grilled) on top of a grilled whole grain wrap, with organic marinara, laughing cow cheese, oregano, basil, garlic powder
Coffee soy milk
The first two ingredients are coffee and water (for you caffeine lovers)! I scored this from the Foodbuzz Festival tasting pavilion.
My beloved SunWarrior arrived!
Protein pasta
Carba nada protein pasta topped with "meat" sauce (quorn, marinara, nutritional yeast, oregano, basil, garlic powder, red pepper flakes)

I've also been enjoying spending time with this handsome young man..
Not sure why but he's been extra cuddly lately. I'll take it <3

On the workout front, my hip is still hurting. My PT gave me the a-ok to run 5-6 miles a few times per week but I'm being even more cautious than that. From my experience, it's better to be safe than sorry. I've been doing lots more spinning classes, BodyPump and even tried out some new exercise classes (lots of circuit training, which I'm LOVING). As much as I miss running, I'm trying my best to stay positive. Sometimes you have to just be thankful that you still can exercise at all. Sometimes I take that for granted.
Stay tuned around Thanksgiving, when my brother (studying to be a strength and conditioning coach for pro athletes) is going to put me through a 4-day workout series. Think women + heavy lifting!

Have a great weekend!
Questions:
Have you tried any new workouts?
DVDs? Classes?
Any suggestions for someone with two left feet??

* An interesting article: Why teens are more susceptible to long-term drug and alcohol induced brain damage compared to adults

I'm too uncoordinated for workout classes or DVDs. (Watching me attempt Tae Bo in the early 2000s could have been classified a comedy.) And I'm sure it's not good for someone who's injured but my husband loved P90X. The moves are simple, but it's hard.
ReplyDeleteYour puppy is so freaking cute!
ReplyDeleteCoffee soymilk? I have never ever heard of it. I'm sorry about your hip, but spinning classes aren't bad at all!
Have you tried swimming? Maybe there is a heated pool?
Good Luck!

I did a kettlebell/TRX combo class (for the third time ever, so it's newish) at lunch today and I can barely move.
ReplyDeleteIt's great! Although I am not sure if it's great for injured people.
Oh I LOOOVE the veggie burger pizza idea. I feel like that would work so well with nutritional yeast as "cheese" as well!! Might be stealing that...
ReplyDeleteI tried Physique 57 last weekend and DAMN, it HURT!! I hear the DVD's are good too!
Coffee soymilk? Count me in!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Gabriela! I just might be stealing that pizza idea too! :)
Your puppy is adorable! I really wish I could find carba nada pasta here in Canada because I'd love to try it. Yours looks delish! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea for the veggie burger pizzas! I eat those MorningStar pizza burgers all the time - they're one of my favs - next time I'll definitely try your recipe. Btw - it was great meeting you at FoodBuzz, and I'm really enjoying reading through your blog! We're pretty aligned in our healthy lifestyle / food approaches (laughing cow cheese is another one of my fav products hehe). Anyway - hope you have a great Thanksgiving and please do stay in touch!
ReplyDeleteThat pizza looks great!! And your dog is sooo cute :) and I am so sorry about your tooth girl! That sounds awful
ReplyDeleteI've never tried that soy milk, but I'm a huge fan of Sun Warrior protein and put it in my smoothies daily. You dog is precious.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any workout DVDs, but should try some because I'm in a home workout rut of using an elliptical and Bowflex when the weather is too crappy to run.
COFFEE soymilk?! Was I reading this right?!:)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen coffee soymilk!!! That would be SO good in a smoothie I bet. Have you tried it in any recipes or do you normally just drink it? (I don't normally drink soymilk, but I love using it in smoothies and stuff.)
ReplyDeleteMorningstar pizza burgers are the BEST! I just wish they didn't contain wheat! :-(
ReplyDeleteMy trainer has been switching up my workouts every week, which means my body is sore 24/7. A few days ago we worked with a huge rubber band (not a resistance band) and did pull ups using it for support. I felt like I was on a pogo stick!
I'm leaving for home today, but when I get back, let's do yoga or spinning! <3
I desperately miss RPM and Body Pump! My current gym doesnt offer them. :( When I was dealing with an off hip and runner's knee, I turned to pilates and yoga. Some poses would still hurt, but not nearly as much as running or other hard impact activities would.
ReplyDeleteAhh! The coffee soy milk! So jealous. I'll have to try it for sure. Caffeine?! I'm in :) Sorry to hear about your tooth, I'm glad everything is ok. And thank you again for that margarita recipe! I was out at a bar Friday night and you were a lifesaver!
ReplyDeleteAnyone can take a group fitness class, you just have to keep showing up till you get the moves!
ReplyDeleteI just tried the Jackie Warner toal body curcuit for the first time. It is unbelievable and works every single muscle in the body. Caution: you will be sore the first couple of times you do it.
ReplyDeleteUmmmm...coffee soymilk? Yes, please! ;) I don't think I'd like workout videos. I like getting out of the house and going for a run too much. I bet it would be nice to switch things up though.
