Yeeee-HAWW

Hi guys :) How was your day? This morning I woke a little later than I hoped for (10am, eeek), inhaled a Protein Cupcake then jogged with the Manfriend to the gymnasium. I did shoulders + triceps then took an impromptu Spinning class. I wasn't in the mood to lift anymore so I figured some Cardio + Endorphins would fix my mood...

Whelp, it did the trick aaaand a little more. I have never SWEAT SO MUCH from a workout except Bikram. Fabulous + disgusting at the same time :) And I couldn't be happier.

After a much needed shower, I whipped up a Peanut Butter Cup Green Monster:

- 1 scoop Chocolate SunWarrior protein
- 1.5 tbsp Peanut Butter Flour
- 1 frozen banana
- 2 hand fulls fresh spinach
- Ice + H20
- stevia
- pinch xanthan gum
- dash sea salt

Shortly after refueling, Kelsey (sister) and I headed to Virginia for a COUNTY FAIR!!! Brings me back to childhood in New Hampsha.

There were animals:

And preggo ones:

Side note: Our friend Andrea (super girly-girl, nurse in DC) grew up on a farm and her family shows cows a few times per year (they have 200!). We went to see her show em'!

Andera posing with fresh milk from her cows:

And ME drinking the FRESH COW MILK!

There were also lots of GAMES:

And FOOD:

Had to TRY a FRIED OREO. When in Rome, right?

Green apple + Cheddar from a dairy farm. Oh so good.

And tasted some vanilla soft serve, also from the dairy farm

All in all, a fantastic day. Tomorrow it's BACK to THESIS-ing! Night kids :)

QUESTIONS:

Did you attend fairs as a kid?

What's the strangest food you've tired in another state??

  2. being all the way over in europe, i spose i can't answer the question properly, but its almost certain that whenever i visit my boy's family in russia, pig's heart in some form will be thrust at me. i have a feeling they consider vegetarianism a disease there...!

perhaps the "when in rome" card should only be played where there's baked (/deep fried) goods involved :)

  4. Aww the piggies are so cute! I didn't go to a ton of fairs/carnivals when I was younger, but I remember I used to go to Klondike days when I lived in Alberta and my friends and I would always get elephant ears, which are like big pancake-type things (but a little different) covered in cinnamon and sugar. They were delicious!

  5. I love elephant ears and roasted sweetened almonds. I just volunteered at a festival last week and had the weirdest fair food to date. It's called a pucker sucker a whole lemon with a peppermint stick where you suck the lemon juice out through the stick. I think you have to be 7 to enjoy it.

  6. I tried the deep fridge oreo in vegas, very yummy lol! My grandparents use to buy all there produce from a local farm that had cows and chickens so every saturday I'd go with, it was like a fair every weekend, minus games, BUT you could feed the chickens and that goats and they always had fresh carrots and other things for the kids to munch on while people shopped, great experience :) I think cows are soooo cute lol

  7. A FRIED Oreo??!! Oh, man! LOL! I used to live in Vermont and we went to a fair there. Otherwise, I wasn't a regular fair-goer. Vermont is definitely farmland, or it was years ago when I was there! :)

  8. Ohhh chica. Let me tell you, until you have been to the Minnesota State Fair, you have NO idea what fair food has to offer. :) Not kidding... check them out - http://www.mnstatefair.org/fair_finders/food_finder.html

  9. I loved going to the fair on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore when I was a kid. Cotton candy, funnel cake, soft serve...oh the memories. Weirdest thing I've tried in another state is probably a Primanti Brother's sandwich in Pittsburgh. It was interesting, to say the least!

  10. I can't wait for the MN State Fair! Only a few more weeks before it starts.

The weirdest thing I ever ate? A deep fried snickers bar. Yep. And J had a peanut butter covered hotdog in a bun with banana slices and choc syrup on top. So gross but so good!
