How's your day going? I'm pretty much done my experiments for the day, just have a ton of data to analyze. I was able to sequence the cloning I did yesterday so I've been sitting here reading the same four letters (A,T,C,G), 34980234802 times over. (Nerd note: DNA is composed of 4 'letters' or nucleotides. A (long)sequence of those letters are known as a 'gene'. The order of the 'letters' makes one gene different from the next). Cool, eh? Ha.
I decided to write my last post before Thanksgiving break about 10 things I'm thankful for. And I've also included a picture of New England in the Fall. There is truly no other place to see the leaves change than NE.

1. I am thankful for my sister. She is truly my best friend in the world. I have never met a more caring individual in my entire life. She is currently one of my roomies and we are having an amazing time in this wonderful city.
2. I am thankful for my family. For 5 people with such different lives and spread across the country we are still incredibly close.
3. I am thankful my parents are still happily married after 26 years. They have truly provided an example of true love and everlasting happiness.
4. I am thankful for the love of my life, Seth. He is such a wonderful man and really believes in me. I love every single thing about him.
5. I am thankful for Laura and her daughter (my niece) Morgan. You two have brought me such joy and I can't imagine life without you.
6. I am thankful for my brother Matt, whom I have grown much closer to over the years. I admire the challenges he has faced and cherish the ability to watch him grow up and become a wonderful father.
7. I am thankful for my college and home friends. Alyson, Vera, Tara, Jess, and Brandy, I hope we stay friends forever. I am also
thankful to have found such good friends moving to DC...Ally for being a great friend and Jess for saving Kelsey and I from a horrible roommate situation and being a good friend.
8. I am thankful I can run and am currently injury free (knock on wood!). I may not be as fast as I was in college (still workin on that) but my genuine love for running far surpasses any PR.
9. I am thankful for red wine, shriaz/syrah. Mmmmmm.
10. I am thankful (although it seems like more stress sometimes than good) to be given the chance to study and my 'dream' research institution. I know it's a hard road, and will only get harder, but obtaining my PhD means more to me than anything I have ever strived for in my life.
--Happy Thanksgiving--
